Susan Wood graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a BA degree in psychology and MA and ED.S. degrees in educational/school psychology. A lifelong resident of the Quad Cities, she has over 32 years of experience as a psychologist in schools (preschool-high school) as well as previous experience as a school psychologist in a medical setting. Susan has a passion for understanding and helping individuals with educational/school related concerns and brings an extensive amount of training and practical experience to her work at Family Counseling and Psychology Center. Areas of expertise include individualized diagnostic evaluations and consultations for learning challenges (all types, including dyslexia), intellectual disability (ID waiver evaluations), cognitive testing (IQ testing), ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, memory challenges, emotional/behavioral challenges, and evaluations for accommodations (including college). A high degree of importance is placed upon understanding client concerns and questions, conducting thorough evaluations, and providing recommendations for strategies/interventions. Ongoing consultation is available, if needed. In addition to evaluation, Susan has extensive experience dealing with all types of school-related challenges, including ADHD (consultation, coaching, and counseling). She also has specialized training and experience in supporting individuals with brain injury (all ages). Susan Wood has an adult son who is a computer engineer and a musician. When not working, she enjoys photography, reading, creative endeavors, cooking/baking for family and friends, and spending time with her two Siberians.
